The website links, presented in their respective categories, "Eureka" and
"General" (as displayed under this page), have been chosen for their focus on
freethinking and individual freedom-based ideologies.
On rare occasions, one of those
"eureka" moments experienced spontaneously and without advanced
warning, may occur and introduce such a profound intellectual
influence through book, art, music, film, or other media, that your only
response understandably is "AHA!". Such moments are recorded herein as
the "Eureka" links.

The intention of the website’s author is to disseminate the ideas
taught by Andrew J. Galambos and his colleague Jay S. Snelson through
Galambos’ company, The Free Enterprise Institute in live and recorded
lectures between 1961 and 1978. Everything on this website is either the
teaching of Galambos and Snelson or material corroborative of their teaching
that has come to the author’s attention.
Galambos pointed out that mankind owes virtually all progress in science
to a small number of people, for example Archimedes, Isaac Newton and Albert
Einstein, who are rightly considered to be geniuses. According to Galambos
the function—and the passion—of the scientific genius is to observe natural
phenomena, including the behavior of fellow human beings to discover
principles and laws by which our species can maximize our understanding of
the universe and pursue happiness more effectively in individual and
The eBook being created and disseminated by the author and creator of the
website, Fredrick G. Marks, is an interpretation of Galambos' most important
work. Marks' ideas are of and in themselves profound and in keeping with
this website's objective of journeying toward and achieving One World Of and
By The People.

book and bask in one of the rare but profoundly "eureka" moments available
in this freethinking world of ideas.
Sustainable Civilization Institute was founded to
initiate a voluntary social change in how humans relate to each other in
order to maximize peace, prosperity, and freedom and minimize war, poverty,
and servitude. Jay Stuart Snelson, acknowledging his
intellectual antecedents, has set forth a practical strategy ... Win-Win
Theory ... for building a durable civilization that will not self-destruct
into social ruin. This is in contrast to all past civilizations, including
those of our own era, which are clearly at high risk of self-destructing.
One influential antecedent on how to build durable social structures was
the French economist, Frédéric Bastiat, (1801-1850). Bastiat wrote many
original and practical works on the economics of prosperity for all people.
His most influential book is The Law, published
We recommend reading this short, powerful work on win-win economics. To
introduce a prime objective of the Sustainable Civilization Institute (SCI),
here is one passage from The Law. Bastiat identifies three human
choices concerning the legal confiscation of other people’s wealth and
“It is absolutely necessary that
this question of
legal plunder should be
determined, and there are only three ways to settle it:
1. The few plunder the many.
2. Everybody plunders everybody
3. Nobody plunders anybody.
Partial plunder, universal
plunder, absence of plunder, amongst these we have to make our choice.”

The Watchman's Rattle: Thinking
Our Way Out of Extinction
Passing recession or worldwide collapse?
Why are economic, social and political problems leaping ahead faster than
governments can patch them up?
Business professionals, politicians, housewives, academia, and an
ever-lengthening unemployment line are desperate to understand why our
problems keep getting bigger.
Now comes The Watchman's Rattle: Thinking Our Way Out of Extinction,
a book that connects the dots between crime, oil prices, Wall Street, global
warming, nuclear waste and childhood violence. In the tradition of Malcolm
Gladwell and Thomas Friedman, scholar and author Rebecca D. Costa reveals
the four telltale patterns which paralyze innovative thinking, and with it,
a civilization's ability to solve complex problems.
Using both historic and modern day examples, The Watchman's Rattle
describes what happens when complexity races ahead of the brain's ability to
manage it, the underlying reason why experts and governments can no longer
fix global crisis and conflict. In The Watchman's Rattle, Costa
shows how the same deconstructionist problem solving techniques used to
"find lost luggage" are ineffectively being used to address global warming,
war, poverty and the worldwide financial crisis. The Watchman's Rattle:
Thinking Our Way Out of Extinction turns a complicated web of public
policies and human behaviors into an unstoppable, page-turning, entertaining
But for this website, it is far more than just a good read. It is a
profound explanation of the "WHY" of our journey. In the many years of
journeying through the freethinking world of ideas, including so-called
conventional wisdom and historically accepted accounts of civilization
failure, Costa stands alone in providing one of the most plausible, simple
and profound, connect-the-dots explanations based on scientifically sound
cause and effect analysis that has lead to the "WHY" we are taking our

objectives of this website in general and the specific objective of our journey
being the arrival at our destination of One World Of and By the People.
Foundation For Economic Education
The Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), one of the oldest
free-market organizations in the United States, was founded in 1946 by
Leonard E. Read to study and advance the freedom philosophy. FEE’s mission
is to offer the most consistent case for the “first principles” of freedom:
the sanctity of private property, individual liberty, the rule of law, the
free market, and the moral superiority of individual choice and
responsibility over coercion (See the video by
Lawrence Reed, President, FEE).
For decades these ideals have been ignored to an alarming degree. Despite
the end of the Cold War and the demise of the Soviet Empire, too many
Americans do not seem to appreciate the very concept upon which the Founding
Fathers established the American Republic.
Our vital task is to counter this trend. To help people rediscover how
essential freedom is to human existence and to demonstrate how dangerous it
is to move toward any form of collectivism, FEE offers a comprehensive
educational program to all students of liberty.

The Future of Freedom Foundation
The mission of The Future of Freedom Foundation is to advance freedom by providing an uncompromising moral and
economic case for individual liberty, free markets, private property, and limited government.
The United States was founded on the principles of individual freedom, free markets, private property,
and limited government. As the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution reflect, individuals have
the natural and God-given right to live their lives any way they choose, so long as their conduct is peaceful.
It is the duty of government to protect, not destroy, these inherent and inalienable rights.
The Independence Hall
The Independence Hall
Association (IHA) was founded in 1942 to
spearhead the creation of Independence National Historical Park. We are
written into the enabling legislation of the Park and stand as an
independent group of private concerned citizens overseeing and being
consulted on matters concerning the Park.
The IHA owns the website ushistory.org, which supports our mission to
educate the public about the Revolutionary and Colonial eras of American
history, as well as Philadelphia generally.
The Skeptics Society
The Skeptics Society is a scientific and
educational organization of leading scientists, scholars, investigative
journalists, historians, professors and teachers. Our mission is to

pseudoscience, junk science, voodoo science, pathological science, bad
science, non science and plain old nonsense.
Under the direction of Dr. Michael Shermer, the Society engages in
discussions with leading experts and investigates fringe science and
paranormal claims. It is our hope that our efforts go a long way in
promoting critical thinking and lifelong inquisitiveness in all individuals.
